I found my drug, but do not see prices for my form, strength, or quantity
GoodRx lists prices for virtually every U.S. FDA approved prescription drug. We also show prices for many over-the-counter medications and a few compounded drugs. Chances are, we do have prices for your exact prescription! We’ll show you how to find it in the steps below:
Check the drug name
In some cases, a drug may have several versions (i.e. regular release vs. extended release). Different versions of a medication can have different forms and strengths, so we list them separately. If you search for the wrong version or drug name, this may prevent you from finding the form or strength written for your prescription. To ensure you are viewing prices for the correct version, double check the name of the medication you are entering when searching for your drug.
For example, Venlafaxine is available in a regular release version (written as Venlafaxine) and an extended release version (written as Venlafaxine ER). Venlafaxine ER has a 225mg tablet, but the regular release Venlafaxine does not. If your prescription was written for Venlafaxine ER 225mg, you would need to search the website for Venlafaxine ER. If you search for Venlafaxine by mistake, you will not be able to locate the 225mg tablet.
Locate the Prescription Settings menu
When you search for a drug on GoodRx, we’ll show you prices for the most common form, strength, and quantity first. If the initial search results don’t match your prescription (i.e. we’re showing prices for the 400mg capsule but your prescription is being filled for the 600mg tablet) you can adjust the form, strength, and quantity using the Prescription Settings bar to find an exact match.
Where is the Prescription Settings bar? At the top of the page underneath the image of your drug, you should see a blue bar that says Prescription Settings. To the right of the blue Prescription Settings bar you will see several drop-down tabs that you can click on. We’ve highlighted this menu and the drop-down tabs in the image below:
Update the form, strength, and quantity to match your prescription
Click on each drop-down option to change the drug from generic to brand name, or select your correct form, strength, and quantity. After making your selections, the prices will reload to show you coupons matching your prescription at pharmacies in your area.
Update the Form
Click on the tab in the Prescription Settings bar that shows the form (i.e. tablet, capsule, tube of cream), and a drop-down menu will appear with all of the available forms for you to choose from. Click on the form that matches your prescription.
In the example below, we are looking for prices for Venlafaxine ER 225mg 60 tablets. The form is currently set to “capsule” and we need to change this to “tablet.”
To do this, click on the tab in the Prescription Settings bar that says “capsule.” A drop-down menu will appear with all of the available forms for this drug. We will click on the option that says, “tablet.”
Update the Strength
Next, click on the tab that shows the listed strength, and a drop-down menu will appear with all of the available strengths for the form you have selected. Click on the strength that matches your prescription.
In this example, we are looking for the 225mg tablets. The strength is currently set to “150mg” and we need to change this to “225mg.”
To do this, click on the tab in the Prescription Settings bar that shows “150mg.” A drop-down menu will appear with all of the available strengths to choose from. We are selecting the option for “225mg.”
Update the Quantity
Click on the tab in the Prescription Settings bar that shows the listed quantity, and a drop-down menu will appear with a few options to choose from. If you don't see your quantity in the options listed, locate the "Enter a custom quantity" box at the bottom of this drop-down menu. Enter your custom quantity into this box and select the blue "SET" button when you are done.
In this example, the quantity is set to “30 tablets” and we need “60 tablets.” To pull up prices for a quantity of 60, we click on the tab in the Prescription Settings bar that says, “30 tablets.” A drop-down menu appears. 60 tablets is not an option, so we scroll down to the Enter a custom quantity box, type in the number 60, and click on the blue SET button.
After making all of your selections, the prices will reload to show you coupons matching your exact prescription at pharmacies in your area.
I searched for my Brand name drug, but you only show prices for the generic.
GoodRx provides prices and coupons for both brand-name and generic medications. If you're having trouble finding pricing for your brand-name drug, click here.
