Before you head to the pharmacy

Please note that using a GoodRx coupon for a non-prescription product works a bit differently than you may be used to. Follow these steps in order to use a GoodRx coupon and save on a non-prescription product:

1. Get a doctor’s prescription. Though you do not need a prescription from a doctor to buy non-prescription products themselves, you will need a prescription in order to receive the GoodRx discount for the products. (Doctors often do write prescriptions for these products. Just call your doctor’s office and have them call or fax in the prescription to your preferred pharmacy.)
2. Get a GoodRx coupon. Search the GoodRx website for the item you want to buy. Then print, email, or text yourself the appropriate coupon. Even better – download our free GoodRx mobile app which has coupons built in!
3. Go to the pharmacy counter, not the cash register. After receiving your prescription, the pharmacist will locate and set this product aside for you. Many of these products are kept behind the pharmacist’s counter; if not, the pharmacist can help you find the right product and apply the coupon. Do NOT take your GoodRx coupon to the regular cashier at the front of the store – they will not be able to apply it to your purchase.

GoodRx discounts will often help you save, but also be sure to look for other store promotions. If you find a lower price for a product without using a GoodRx coupon, choose the lower price option instead. There is no commitment to using GoodRx; we just want you to find the maximum savings so that you can stay healthy.

Please note: Discounts for over-the-counter prescriptions are accepted at the pharmacist's discretion; unlike regular prescription discounts, pharmacies are not obligated to honor discounts for over-the-counter medications and supplies.

What if I don’t see prices or coupons for my drug?

We do our best to list every over-the-counter medication, but there may be some that we are not able to list at this time.  We’re always on the look-out for new prices and coupons, so we recommend that you check back often to see if we were able to add pricing for your medication!
